Last night ended up chatting to one of the bands and also found out that the Large 90s drummer is the cousin of "Nick" a local guitarist I admire.
So another solid night's sleep courtesy of Hugo, despite a bit of van-rocking ... thanks to the wind doing its best to give us a free massage. Woke up to actual sunshine — proper warm, mood-lifting sunshine — though the wind clearly didn't get the memo and is still having a go.
Breakfast, then a wander over to catch the opening act: a 12-year-old DnB DJ who, frankly, already has a better grip on BPM transitions than some grown adults I've watched mangle a mix. No awkward gaps, no jarring jumps — kid's got instincts. Future headliner, mark my words.
The chairs are out, cider in hand. This is the bit festivals are made for — just sitting back and letting the day happen.
What a lineup ahead: a Bowie tribute, old era of China Crisis, The Blow Monkeys, and to cap it off, the brilliantly rave kings Large 90s. Honestly, we're going to need to ration ourselves — pace is everything when the day starts this well.
Hugo's doing us proud. Onwards to the music.
